Amazon.com Review Red and gold transform Mikasa's popular Parchment pattern into a version specifically designed for the holidays. The gleaming white china features a wide cranberry-red border lavished with delicate gold filigree. Gold also trims the edge of each piece. This 40-piece set includes eight place settings, each consisting of a dinner plate, salad plate, rimmed soup plate, footed teacup, and tea saucer. Parchment Red doesn't have to be saved just for the Christmas season, however. A golden wedding anniversary, landmark birthday, or any significant event can be celebrated with this sumptuous pattern. Under normal household use, the dinnerware can be cleaned safely in the dishwasher. Handsomely gift-boxed, the set makes an exceptional gift for that special someone who loves to entertain. --Ann Bieri What's in the Box 8 place settings. Each place setting consists of: dinner plate; salad plate; soup plate; cup; saucer. 40 pieces total.
Product Description As a nod to the days of formal dining as a lavish art form, this regal collection melds warm, rich color with a gilded filigree pattern to lend your tabletop a noble air.

Beautiful China March 3, 2006 Frank Yee (Danville, CA USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
My wife wanted two sets to match our new family room decor. Well, they turned out to be so beautiful that we have replaced our good formal china with this set. Really gorgeous pattern and color. The red has a slight orange cast and is not a perfect match for a more maroon red.
The sets arrived in perfect condition although the two outside box were very beat up. Excellent packaging. A fabulous deal.
Elegant dinnerware February 23, 2006 Guenet Jackson (Jacksonville, Fl United States) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This item was more than I expected. I received all the pieces that was advertised. The color of the plates were not a red that i expected, but more of a burnt orange color.
WOW--gorgeous dishes! January 13, 2007 Kelli Hamilton 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I ordered this china specifically to use during the holidays. It arrived in perfect condition with all pieces accounted for, and is absolutely lovely. The red and gold combination can be used year-round, and it is dishwasher safe! I like it so much I intend to order another service for 8. Excellent value.
Another excellent Mikasa dinnerware set May 31, 2008 ama2001 (Chicago, IL) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is the 2nd Mikasa dinnerware set (40-piece Mikasa Parchment Red) I have purchased. In 1989 I purchased the 40 piece Mikasa Imperial Lapis for $600. Now, almost 20 years later I was able to purchase another excellent set at $150 (w/free shipping). It's a beautiful pattern. The salad plate and the cup & saucer are bigger than the older set. There is a good balance of red with the white so the white isn't a stark contrast with the red. The package arrived within a week and was carefully packaged. There were no missing, broken or defective pieces. I am very pleased with the set and I know it will give me years of pleasure, just like the older set. I used the Imperial Lapis set everyday for almost 20 years, and cleaned in the dishwasher. In that time only 1 cup was chipped.
Beautiful Dinnerware May 14, 2007 Julie A. Jaehnig (West Michigan) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have been looking at this dinnerware for awhile, and kept waiting for the price to go down, but other than occasional sales of a few dollars off, I have never found this for less than $60 a place setting. To find 8 placesettings on Amazon for less than 1/2 the cost of 4 settings, was very exciting and I ordered them immediately. They arrived within within a few days of ordering and were perfect.
