Amazon.com Review Displaying the latest in contemporary aesthetics, Corelle's Square Round line consists of square plates and bowls with rounded corners, delineated round centers, and subtly lifted rims. The Simple Lines pattern presents a white background minimally graced by several swooping thin lines of black. The effect is at once stark yet artistically appealing, creating a dinnerware pattern that can be used for everyday, year-round dining or saved for special occasion entertaining. Like all Corelle dinnerware, Simple Lines is made of laminated layers of glass that produce incredible strength while being very lightweight, thin, and stackable. Moreover, because the enamel pigments are fired onto the dinnerware, the design won't fade or scratch off over time. This 16-piece set is comprised of four of each of the following: 10-1/4-inch dinner plate, 8-3/4-inch lunch plate, 22-ounce cereal or soup bowl, and 12-ounce porcelain mug. While sudden changes in temperature should be avoided, Corelle Square Round is safe for the microwave, oven, and dishwasher, and is covered by a 3-year warranty against chips and breakage. --Ann Bieri What's in the Box 4 place settings. Each place setting consists of: dinner plate; salad plate; cereal bowl; mug. 16 pieces total.
Product Description This beautiful Dinnerware Set in Simple Lines features sleek squared shapes with round corners and flared rims, which are accented with simple lines to create a look of contemporary elegance. Made from Vitrelle glass, it is break and chip-resistant, oven safe up to 400F, freezer-safe and resists metal marks from flatware. The designs won't fade or scratch and all these plates are lightweight and stackable in the sink, dishwasher and fridge! This 16-pc. set includes 4 each of the following pieces: 10.25-in. Dinner Plate, 8.75-in. Lunch Plate, 22-oz. Soup/Cereal Bowl, and 12-oz. Porcelain Mug.CORELLE dinnerware is the original break and chip resistant glass dinnerware. Introduced in 1970, CORELLE is recognized worldwide for its legendary strength and durability. The first of its kind when developed, CORELLE glass dinnerware's underlying technology was an achievement of Corning Glass Works R&D scientists. Corelle glass dinnerware is made through a hub lamination process that thermally bonds three layers of glass: core glass in the middle, with top and bottom layers of very clear skin or glaze glass. The process creates a lightweight, durable, multi-layered product. In addition, the unique enamels used during the decorating process actually become part of the glass, so the patterns last as long as the plate.

Corelle is the best! May 8, 2007 B. Whitt (Columbus, GA USA) 36 out of 36 found this review helpful
I bought this to replace a set of Corelle dinnerware we've had over 15 years. The old set start getting gray and streaky as if the years of utensils against the surface in daily use finally took a toll. When I decided to replace that set, I had no doubt that it would be with another set of Corelle. It is lightweight, dishwasher and microwave safe, is thin enough to not stack too high in the cabinet, and it stays nice looking even with heavy use.
This set arrived well packed, the Corelle box and bubble packing inside another box, and everything was intact. The plates are really big! We will probably end up using the lunch plates as dinner plates sometimes. The bowls also have a very large capacity, easily two cups.
One main difference between this set and my old one is the coffee cups are not the same material as the dishes... they used to be made of the same 'vitrelle' and now are porcelain. I like the new ones better; they have a little more heft and keep my coffee warmer longer, and they are more elegant than our regular old unmatched mugs.
I love the squared shape of all the pieces, even the cups are a bit square. Perhaps it is because of the shape that the pieces all seem to have so much capacity. I like this pattern, Simple Lines, because it is a simple contemporary desigh. If I have one complaint it would be that the lines don't look solid and dark on the plates; in places the lines look like chalk stripes.
I have had this pattern for over a year August 16, 2007 Nanciejeanne (Western PA USA) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
I really liked this pattern when it came out and immediately bought 2 sets. I am here to buy another (always compare prices).
I had Corelle growing up and liked the lightweight nature of it and the durability. However, the patterns were not so hot for a while. The newer patterns are great! I gave my old dishes to a college-bound relative when I got these. It was just too hard on my hands lifting 4 stacked stoneware plates from the diswasher to the cupboard.
FYI, and stoneware/porcelain/ceramic dishes with chips should be discarded as dirt/bacteria can get into the unglazed part and you can't get it out. I don't like taking chances with my family's safety. I have never chipped a Corelle dish. My mother did drop one at walmart and it shattered into about a zillion shards, so it is possible.
The only bummer about this set is that the mugs ARE NOT corelle glass. They match but are ceramic. My old set had corelle mugs. The paint does look slightly different as it is on a different surface. The bowls also only have a black rim, too bad the lines aren't on them. I do see they have added some companion pieces. Still waiting for smaller dessert/salad plates to match this set.
Nice everyday dishes that can take rough handling of a family.
Excellent choice December 6, 2006 Top Stone (Tarzana, California, USA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
We acquired four sets and are thrilled with the looks, the durability, the light weight, the feel of the material and the ease of cleaning - hands down the best (and the best looking) day to day set we ever had!
Just love these ........ May 28, 2007 Katt A Shopper (VA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
They are everything all the reviewers have said, but they also make your food look just beautiful when plating. So artistic! I use to use a lot of tupperware or just paper plates because its just me and my husband. Since getting these I pull them out all the time just because they look so good.
Stylish and Durable Dishes January 14, 2008 Erin Rae Blanton (Phoenix, AZ) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is the coolest set of dishes I've ever owned! They are lightweight but durable, and very stylish. I get compliments on them all the time, and most people can't believe they are Corelle! The square shape and modern design make them fun, and the strength of Corelle make them timeless. They seem a little light, but once you start washing them you realize that weight doesn't matter-- these babies hold up strong. The dinner plates are REALLY big and we end up only using the lunch plates. Instead of buying two 16-piece sets, I bought one set and then just bought individual lunch plates and bowls to add to the collection because I didn't want any more of the dinner plates. You really can't go wrong with this set, as long as they fit your style!
